Wherein I Get a Blogging Award

Jeff Rients has bestowed upon me the prestigious Superior Scribbler Award. I won for endurance, apparently. Run a blog for 12 years and you’re bound to win something eventually. Thanks, Jeff!

Per the rules of this game I must now share the love with five others deserving of recognition. I’m going to shoot for folks that don’t get as much recognition as I feel they deserve here, so nobody feel slighted, I still love y’all.

Ken Newquist deserves recognition for doing this blog thing for about as long as I have, before the word “blog” existed, as well as for writing awesome columns for Knights of the Dinner Table and ScfiFi.com.

To Modemac, who turned me on to the Church of the Subgenius at a science fiction convention in the late 1980s, and whose Bulldada Newsblog is a daily source of information on politics, religion, and weirdness.

Greywulf not only cranks out fully-statted roleplaying characters on his blog, he illustrates them as well. Plus, he designed my current avatar, and I must throw money at him if I ever have any again.

The Evil DM deserves an award for the Lazy Sunday Photodump alone, but then he keep cranking out other awesome pulp stuff. Plus, you know, what he does with a Wednesday.

Finally, to Widge at NeedCoffee.com, who in spite of being filled with annoying ads is chock full ‘o’ pop culture hilarity. The 700 Bands project alone merits something.

Trust me, no one’s more annoyed at those ads than I am–because they mean I’m not rich enough yet to run a site with no ads. The moment I’m rolling in dough and can get away with it, I promise to make Needcoffee a tax write-off. Hopefully this award will help get me there. I will respond appropriately per the Fine Print in due time.

Yes!

It’s kind of like being dubbed the Top 5% of the Internet by Lycos back in the day (which this site was). Pretty much EVERYONE who ran a halfway decent website could get the award with little or no effort.

It’s always nice to be appreciated, though, and I thought it was a good opportunity to give some shout-outs to blogs I like.

Thank you for the mention…though I have to say that the guy who turned you to “Bob” in the 1980s must have been someone else. I myself was a late-comer to the Church, and didn’t become an officially ordained (paid-up) minister until 1994.

Nonetheless, I’m more than happy to offer congradulations for your richly-deserved accolades. And thank you for reading my own scribblings; that’s what I like to hear more than (almost) anything else. Praise “Bob!”
